Illegal residents and theft suspects detained in Northern Cyprus
Northern Cyprus police reported a series of arrests during inspections and investigations in various regions of the country.
As part of the fight against illegal residence, three people staying on the island without a residence permit were detained during police raids across the country. According to the police, the investigation into this case is ongoing.
In addition, a 47-year-old man was detained in Famagusta today around 01:30, who, while intoxicated, was shouting loudly and disturbing public order in the stairwell of a residential building.
Police are also investigating two thefts in the Bafra area.
According to law enforcement officials:
— A 26-year-old cashier was detained on suspicion of stealing 20,000 Turkish Liras from the supermarket where he worked.
— A 42-year-old hotel employee is suspected of stealing food and cleaning supplies from the hotel kitchen. The thefts are believed to have occurred between March 9 and 31.
Police are continuing their investigation into all incidents.
