Spy arrested in Northern Cyprus

A Greek citizen, Georgios Bartzokis, was arrested in Northern Cyprus on charges of espionage.
He was caught red-handed in the Yedidalga area of Lefke while photographing military facilities and the residences of the command of the Northern Cyprus peacekeeping forces.
During his arrest, images of the Turkish Embassy in Nicosia were also found among other materials on his phone.
According to law enforcement, Bartzokis entered Northern Cyprus from the South and lived in a house in Yedidalga. A search of the house revealed a USB drive, memory card, and voice recorder.
Joint photos of Bartzokis with MP Afroditi Latinopoulou were also discovered.
The detainee was taken to the Nicosia District Court, which extended his detention by four days to allow further examination of the seized documents and electronic files.
