TRNC Police Chief Set to Retire
Kasım Kuni, Director General of the Police General Directorate (PGM) in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, will retire on July 1 as he reaches the mandatory retirement age.
According to local media, his successor is expected to be announced in June. The frontrunner for the role is Ali Adalıer, who currently serves as the First Deputy Director General of Police.
Kuni was appointed Police Chief on April 3, 2023. Prior to that, he headed the İskele Police Department. On November 15, 2022, he was named First Deputy Police Chief and soon after took over leadership of the PGM.
