New TRNC Presidential Campus to Open on May 3 with Turkish President Erdoğan's Participation
The move to the new Presidential Palace and the TRNC Parliament building is set to take place on May 3, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in attendance.
This announcement was made by the President of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, during the opening ceremony of the TRNC Museum of Doors and Chests at the Mujahideen’s memorial site in Nicosia.
In his speech, Tatar highlighted the significant contributions made by the Republic of Turkey and its institutions toward the establishment of the TRNC. He stated that, on May 3, the government will relocate to the new Presidential Campus and the new Republican Assembly building, with President Erdoğan joining the ceremony.
The current Presidential Palace, which has been in use since the 1960s, was originally built in the 1930s. It has been the residence and office of the first TRNC President, Rauf Raif Denktaş, as well as several other Turkish Cypriot leaders.
During the museum’s opening, Ersin Tatar expressed his hope that the current Presidential Palace will eventually be converted into a museum, making it accessible to the public.
