The Cypriot-Turkish community has been surveyed by the "Eurobarometer."
The European Commission has published the results of "Eurobarometer 100," in which the Cypriot-Turkish community participated. The survey was conducted from October 23 to November 17, 2023.
The research included 27 EU member states, seven candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey), as well as the United Kingdom, Kosovo, and the Cypriot-Turkish community.
According to information from Yeniduzen, fieldwork and reporting for the Cypriot-Turkish community were carried out by the company Lipa Consultancy on behalf of the contractor company Verian Group. The survey was conducted face-to-face with a selective group of 513 individuals aged 15 and older.
The report "Standard Eurobarometer 100, Autumn 2023-2024" also includes the results of "Standard Eurobarometer 99," conducted in June 2023.
During the research, the "life satisfaction" level of the Cypriot-Turkish community was 75%.
Despite a decrease of 4 points compared to the previous reporting period, there was an increase of 7 points compared to the result of "Eurobarometer 99" (68%). However, Cypriot-Turks lag behind the EU average by 9 points (84%).
The most crucial issue in the Cypriot-Turkish community was identified as the "economic situation," with a rate of 49%. "Price growth, inflation, and the cost of living" ranked second (40%). In the third place on the list of the most important issues is the "education system" with 16%.
Opinions were collected during the research on whether the "full implementation of European Union legislation by the Cypriot-Turkish community" is considered "good" or "bad." Almost half of Cypriot-Turks, 47%, believe it is "good."
In response to the question, "Which values best represent the European Union," the top three positions were "democracy" (25%), "rule of law" (22%), and "peace" (20%). In the top three of the EU-27 list were "peace" (37%), "democracy" (34%), and "human rights" (29%).
