TEKNOFEST Competitions in TRNC: Date and Venue Announced

The world’s largest aviation, space, and technology festival, TEKNOFEST, is coming to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in 2025. The festival’s technology competitions are set to take place from May 1 to May 4 at the old terminal building of Ercan Airport.

This exciting announcement was shared by Turkey’s Ambassador to Lefkoşa, Yasin Ekrem Serim, through his social media channels. According to the ambassador, participants at this year’s festival will compete in seven main categories and 14 subcategories.

Aspiring innovators will engage in challenges such as social innovation projects and flying car design, developing autonomous flight systems and strategic management mechanisms that aim to revolutionize the transportation systems of the future.

The festival will also highlight sustainable development through creative projects in agriculture, environmental conservation, and energy.

The TEKNOFEST Robolig Blue Homeland competition will showcase groundbreaking advancements in robotics and programming, offering a glimpse into the future of engineering skills. Meanwhile, the HackMasters – Blue Homeland contest will test participants’ expertise in cybersecurity, a critical field in today’s digital age.

For the first time, TEKNOFEST in TRNC will feature a tourism technologies competition, which aims to leverage smart technologies to promote and enhance the rich cultural heritage of Northern Cyprus.

Awards and Support

The festival boasts a total prize pool of 2.5 million Turkish lira, with an additional 3 million lira provided as financial support to participating teams to bring their projects to life.

Preparations Underway

Earlier this year, TRNC President Ersin Tatar met with the festival’s organizing committee to discuss preparations for hosting TEKNOFEST 2025. The event is being held under the auspices of the TRNC Presidency, with organizational support from Turkey’s T3 Foundation.

In 2024, TEKNOFEST in Adana attracted a record-breaking 1.1 million visitors. The event included impressive projects by students from the TRNC, with several youth teams from Northern Cyprus universities earning top awards in their respective categories.
