Notice for hunters: hunting banned in quarantine zone due to foot-and-mouth disease

In Northern Cyprus, part of the territory has been temporarily closed to hunting as a measure against foot-and-mouth disease (şap hastalığı). The decision was made on the recommendation of the Veterinary Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and formalized by a Council of Ministers decree: hunting is prohibited in the area marked on the official quarantine map.
According to the Hunting Federation, the ban is introduced to protect animal health and prevent the spread of the disease. Hunters are asked to understand the restrictions and comply with them strictly.
It is also noted that the government has updated the list of areas where hunting is prohibited: these include permanent wildlife protection zones, military areas, settlements, water bodies, picnic areas, airports, universities, shooting ranges, sewage treatment facilities, as well as areas around pens/farms and other special sections within established distances. "Pocket zones" and a hunting ban within a 3 km radius around the Boğaziçi Ağıllar and Akova Ağıllar areas are also mentioned.
