Celebrating the 41st Anniversary of the TRNC: Full Event Program

On Friday, November 15, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will celebrate the 41st anniversary of its establishment. A variety of ceremonial events and celebrations will take place across the country.

According to the National Day Celebration Committee, the festivities will begin on Thursday, November 14, at 12:00 PM, with a speech by TRNC President Ersin Tatar on BRTK (Cyprus Turkish Broadcasting Corporation), followed by 21 cannon salutes.

At 12:30 and 1:00 PM, commemorative ceremonies will be held at the mausoleums of the TRNC's founding fathers, the first president Rauf Raif Denktash and Fazıl Küçük, a key figure in the Turkish Cypriot struggle for independence.

At 6:00 PM, a Lantern Parade will take place in Famagusta, beginning at EMU Circle and ending at Ismet İnönü Boulevard (opposite Macro AVM).

At 7:00 PM, the Speaker of the Republic Assembly, Ziya Öztürkler, will host a formal reception in the Parliament Garden.

The official anniversary celebrations will begin on Friday, November 15, at 9:00 AM, with a congratulatory speech from President Ersin Tatar.

At 9:30 AM, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Atatürk Monument in Nicosia, followed by a flag-raising ceremony, a moment of silence, and the national anthem. This will be followed by a signing ceremony in the Special Book of Remembrance.

The official parade will begin at 10:00 AM on Fazıl Küçük Boulevard. After the military review, flags brought from Lefke and Erenköy will be presented to the President. Speeches by President Ersin Tatar and the representative of the President of Turkey will follow, along with a folk dance performance and a concert by the Mehter Band of the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey.

In Kyrenia, on November 15, at 3:30 PM, the Turkish Air Force's aerobatic team SOLOTÜRK will perform an airshow in front of the Atatürk Monument.

At 2:00 PM, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Atatürk Monument.

From 2:00 to 4:30 PM, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment will host the “Republic Festival Parade,” which will start from the Old Municipality Building, continue along Atatürk Monument, and end at the ancient harbor in Kyrenia.

The first ceremony in Famagusta will take place at 2:30 PM at the Victory Monument, followed by a flag-raising ceremony and a moment of silence.

The second ceremony will be at 3:00 PM on Ismet İnönü Boulevard and will feature speeches, poetry readings, folk dances, a musical concert, and the Mehter Band performance.

In Güzelyurt, celebrations will start at 9:30 AM at the Atatürk Monument. The second ceremony will take place at 9:45 AM in front of the museum with poetry readings and a speech about the significance of the day, followed by a parade.

In İskele, the ceremony will begin at 9:30 AM at Ecevit Square, where the District Governor and the head of security forces will give speeches. The event will include poetry readings and a ceremonial parade.

In Lefke, the ceremony will start at 2:00 PM in front of the Atatürk Monument and will end with a parade.

There will also be ceremonies in Mehmetçik and Akdoğan districts, starting at 9:00 AM in front of the Atatürk monuments, as well as in Geçitkale at 9:00 AM in the town square.

The Mehter Orchestra of Turkey’s Ministry of National Defense will hold concerts on Thursday in front of the Atatürk Monument in Kyrenia and on Friday at the Macro AVM in Famagusta. Both concerts will start at 3:30 PM.

On Friday, November 15, at 6:30 PM, a “Republic Reception” will be held at the Presidential Palace.

Sports Events:

  • The Badminton Federation will organize the “Republic Badminton Festival” at 4:30 PM on Thursday at the YDK sports hall.
  • The Athletics Federation will host the Republic Road Race on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Atatürk Stadium in Nicosia.
  • On Friday, November 15, the Taekwondo Federation will hold the Republic Championship at the “Eurasia” Center in Kyrenia.
