Pegasus launches flights from Erjan Airport to Istanbul Airport
The airline Pegasus began regular flights from Erjan Airport to Istanbul Airport on October 1. A ceremony was held at the airport in Northern Cyprus for passengers and invited guests to mark the launch of the route.
The event was attended by Pegasus Head in TRNC Zeki Ziya, CEO of airport operator T&T Serhat Yozcelik, and Pegasus Sales Manager from Turkey Cagri Uluturk. At the sales desk, passengers received a "flight certificate", frames with the inscription "I also took the first Pegasus flight from Northern Cyprus to Istanbul Airport" and roses with a card reading: "Every new journey is a story… We are opening the ECN‑IST route together with you. Have a good flight."
Zeki Ziya stated that Pegasus started flights from Erjan in 2006 with 14 weekly flights and increased the volume to 45 flights per week, holding about 60% of the Erjan market. With the launch of the Istanbul route, the airline's destinations in the TRNC reached 11. The company plans to operate one flight per day from October 1 and increase the frequency to two flights per day from October 23.
Cagri Uluturk noted that Pegasus operates flights to 55 countries on 155 routes and is the carrier with the most flights between the TRNC and Turkey. Serhat Yozcelik emphasized the importance of adding Istanbul Airport for TRNC tourism.
