Veteran Turkish Airlines Pilot Ends Career with a Final Flight to Northern Cyprus
Veteran Turkish Airlines pilot Ramazan Ulukan has completed his final flight to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). After over 40 years of service as a captain, Ulukan has ensured the safety of countless passengers throughout his career.
According to the airline's press office, Ulukan bid farewell to the skies on his last journey, flying from Istanbul Airport to Ercan Airport in Northern Cyprus aboard a wide-body A350 aircraft with flight number TK 961. Before the flight, the aircraft crew prepared a special surprise for the captain. Pınar Ayvaz Arıkan, the Turkish Airlines manager in Cyprus, organized a celebration for him right on board the plane.
Ulukan was deeply touched by the gesture and became emotional during his farewell speech.
"It’s hard for me to speak. Time has flown by so quickly. I joined aviation in 1977, and I’ve been incredibly happy and excited throughout my career. It’s truly wonderful to be remembered. Thank you all," the captain shared, visibly moved.
Among those who welcomed Ulukan during his final flight were the THY station manager at Ercan Airport, ground staff, TT Airport Operations team, and the flight crew who worked alongside him on his last journey.
