Suspects in the murder of a Russian in Kyrenia were arrested for another 7 days
Three suspects in the murder of Russian citizen Mikhail Kamyshanov have again appeared in court in Kyrenia. The court remanded them for another week for further investigation.
Sergei Mikhailichenko, his wife Katerina Kotenko and their accomplice Andrei Volkovsky appeared in court. It is known that after committing the murder, the suspects stole a bag containing money belonging to the victim.
Let us remind you that a terrible crime that shocked the entire Russian-speaking community of Northern Cyprus occurred in the very center of Kyrenia on Monday, November 27. It has been established that Russian citizen Mikhail Kamyshanov, who was found dead at his workplace in the premises of the İmaj Photo Studio on Ugur Mumku Boulevard, was strangled. The police reconstructed the crime scene.
As we found out during the investigation, on the day of the murder, Sergei Mikhailichenko entered the studio around 09:00, and Andrei Volkovsky arrived at the photo studio half an hour later. After some time, Mikhail Kamyshanov himself came into the workplace with a backpack.
The actual murder took place in the kitchen of the premises. After that, suspect Sergei Mikhailichenko stole the victim's backpack full of money, his mobile phone, house key and wallet, and then broke down the back door.
The wallet was later found in the Lapta area. The rest of the things and the missing money have not yet been found.
It is noted that in the 3 days since the arrest of the suspects, the police interrogated 40 people, took 28 statements and examined 11 recordings from CCTV cameras. Stating that new details of the crime had emerged, the police asked to detain the suspects for another 7 days. The judge agreed with this decision.
