Nicosia Police Crack Car Theft Case in Gönyeli
Three suspects have been arrested in Northern Cyprus as part of the “Safe Streets 2” police operation, following a car theft in Gönyeli. The individuals were found in possession of stolen items—and a small quantity of drugs.
According to the police press office, the arrests were made after valuables were stolen from a parked vehicle, including 4,600 Turkish lira in cash, various pieces of jewelry, a credit card, an ID card, and a mobile phone.
The suspects—three young men—were identified and detained during a joint operation carried out by Nicosia’s Crime Prevention Unit (CÖŞ) and officers from the Gönyeli Police Station.
In addition to the stolen property, one of the suspects was also found with a grinder containing what is believed to be approximately one gram of cannabis.
Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
