Eid al-Fitr holiday to last 9 days in TRNC
In TRNC, the celebration of Eid al-Fitr will last for 9 days for government employees. This decision was made by the Prime Minister of TRNC, Ünal Üstel.
During yesterday's Council of Ministers meeting, it was announced that Monday, April 8th, and Tuesday, April 9th, would be declared as public holidays, falling on the eve of the holiday.
The actual celebration of the end of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, will begin on April 10th. Thus, government employees will be sent on administrative leave one and a half days before the start of the holiday.
Prime Minister of TRNC, Ersan Saner, also expressed his wishes for the month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday to bring benefits to all citizens.
Eid al-Fitr, or the Festival of Breaking the Fast, is an Islamic holiday celebrated to mark the end of fasting during the month of Ramadan, which began this year on March 11th. The beginning of Eid al-Fitr falls on April 10th this year.
