President of the TRNC Arrives in New York
Ersin Tatar, the President of the TRNC, has arrived in New York to participate in the 79th United Nations General Assembly. On his way to the United States, he met with Turkey’s Vice President, Cevdet Yılmaz, in Ankara.
During his visit to the U.S., President Tatar is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Additionally, he will attend various events in New York and give interviews to local media.
Ersin Tatar departed for the U.S. from Ercan Airport on Saturday at 16:50. He is accompanied by Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Special Representative Güneş Onar, Legal Advisor Sülen Karabacak, Coordinator for Confidence-Building Measures and Bilateral Technical Committees Sennur Birand Çınar, and Foreign Press Officer Kerem Haser.
On Sunday, the President of Northern Cyprus met with Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz in Ankara. Their private meeting lasted about two hours.
Ersin Tatar is expected to return to the island on Sunday, September 29, and will inform the public about his engagements in New York.
