The President of TRNC received a delegation from the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkey
President of TRNC, Ersin Tatar, received a delegation from the Higher Education Council (YÖK) of the Republic of Turkey. The Head of Northern Cyprus highly appreciated the support that YÖK will provide to expand the inspection capabilities of the Higher Education Supervision and Accreditation Council of TRNC (YÖDAK).
During the reception at the Presidency, the delegation, led by YÖK Vice Chairman and Executive Board Member Haldun Göktaş, was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia, Metin Feyzioğlu, and the President of YÖDAK, Aykut Hocanın.
In his welcoming speech, Ersin Tatar noted that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is an island of education and that YÖK's support is necessary to strengthen YÖDAK, which governs higher education and oversees the country's universities.
According to the Head of Northern Cyprus, higher education in the country is as important as the tourism sector, as significant investments are made in this field. Therefore, YÖDAK should also be developed to strengthen the educational system.
The President of TRNC emphasized that the quality of higher education in the country will improve thanks to the contribution of YÖK, Vice President of Turkey, Cevdet Yılmaz, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia, Metin Feyzioğlu. He thanked the YÖK delegation, which was in the country to provide technical support, for their work.
Recall that this week, Nicosia hosted a higher education summit. Delegations from the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkey (YÖK) and the Higher Education Supervision and Accreditation Council of TRNC (YÖDAK) gathered to participate in it.
