“Nature reminded us of itself”: ecologists in Karpaz called for a review of riverbed development

The head of the Karpaz Protection Association, Dursun Cebi, stated that the recent heavy rains clearly demonstrated the importance of respecting nature, not building on riverbeds, and increasing the number of green zones and trees. According to him, after many years of drought, streams and rivers that had not flowed for about 30 years "came to life," but due to chaotic construction and weak infrastructure, this led to flooding and material damage in several regions. He emphasized that, importantly, there were no human casualties.
Cebi noted that the organization will continue to oppose any practices that disrupt the natural balance and work to preserve the natural landscape. He thanked residents for their mutual assistance during the bad weather, wished the affected a speedy recovery, and expressed confidence that "a more sustainable and ecological future can only be built in harmony with nature."
