The consideration of the case regarding the collapse of the "Isias" hotel will continue on April 26
The hearing on the collapse of the "Isias" hotel in the 3rd High Criminal Court of Adıyaman has been postponed to April 26. Following the hearings held last week, the court issued several interim decisions. In particular, the court ruled that five out of the 11 defendants will remain in custody, while the remaining six individuals will remain free under judicial supervision.
Another announced decision was the submission of the expert report prepared by the Karadeniz Technical University to the university's expert commission, which was deemed appropriate for determining the reasons for the building's collapse.
According to the court's decision, the next court session will take place on April 26, 2024.
To recall, legal proceedings for the case of the Isias hotel collapse in Adıyaman, where 72 people lost their lives due to an earthquake on February 6, began on January 3. This case holds special significance in Northern Cyprus, with 35 Turkish Cypriot athletes and teachers among the deceased. The proceedings were conducted in the Third High Criminal Court of Adıyaman from January 3 to 5.
Before the court, 11 defendants appeared, five of whom are already in custody. The prosecution requested prison sentences ranging from 2 years and 8 months to 22 years and 6 months for the defendants.
A significant delegation from Northern Cyprus, including the families of the deceased children seeking justice, closely monitored the case.
