Famous Cypriot-Turkish Businessman Asil Nadir Passes Away
On the evening of February 9, well-known Cypriot-Turkish businessman Asil Nadir passed away in Northern Cyprus. He had been receiving treatment at Kolan Hospital in Nicosia since February 4.
The news of his death was shared on social media by his wife, Nur Nadir, who also posted his final will.
In his message, Asil Nadir wrote:
"This country is ours, these lands are ours, these institutions are ours. Above all, care for each other, then focus on the projects I have left behind. Even if I wasn't able to complete them, I am confident that you will overcome any difficulties. My will to you is to bring these projects to life for the future of Cyprus and its people."
He also shared his thoughts regarding the upcoming presidential elections in the TRNC, leaving instructions to his wife, Nur Nadir.
Born in 1941 in Lefka, Asil Nadir moved to the United Kingdom in the 1960s. He gained widespread recognition in the 1980s when he turned the textile company Polly Peck into a highly successful business with multi-million-pound turnovers.
Until 2022, Nadir was also the owner of a major media empire in Northern Cyprus.
He is survived by his wife and six children.
