Restaurant Owner Shot in Nicosia, Two Suspects Arrested
A restaurant owner in Nicosia was injured in a shooting over the weekend. Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the attack.
According to police reports, the incident took place on Saturday around 3:15 PM on Mustafa Ahmet Ruso Street. Investigators believe a 25-year-old foreign tourist entered the restaurant and shot the owner, Ahmet Keskin, in the back of his right leg with a Glock pistol, causing serious injuries.
The shooter fled the scene but was arrested later that same day at Ercan Airport while attempting to leave the island. He has already appeared in court, where a judge ordered him to remain in custody for three days as the investigation continues. He faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm, causing grievous bodily harm, and firing a weapon in a residential area.
During the investigation, police recovered a 9mm bullet at the crime scene. They also seized the suspect’s jacket, hat, the firearm used in the shooting, and eight rounds of ammunition—one in the chamber and seven in the magazine.
The following day, a 30-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of being involved in the shooting.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at Nicosia General Hospital.
