Dutch Student Biking to Northern Cyprus Faces Warnings
Bart Alta, a 21-year-old student from a Dutch university, has set out on a bicycle journey with Northern Cyprus as his final destination. However, since starting his trip, he has received numerous messages urging him to reconsider his plans.
The Dutch traveler has already passed through Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Greece. He is currently in Turkey, where he has decided to take a break in the Demirtaş area of Manisa Province.
According to Alta, he has been impressed by Turkey’s beauty and now plans to continue to Northern Cyprus via Mersin to complete his tour.
Meanwhile, his choice of final destination is receiving significant criticism on social media. The main concerns are that the roads in Northern Cyprus are unsuitable for cycling and may be unsafe. Additionally, there has been an increase in fatal accidents in the region.
Some comments include: “Don’t come; the roads are bad, and everyone here is living by chance,” “God protect you; don’t come, you’ll regret it,” and even “So, he’s heading for his final journey.”
Earlier reports indicated that last week in Northern Cyprus, there were 82 accidents resulting in two deaths and 28 injuries. According to the police, 32 people have died on the roads since the beginning of the year.
Despite the warnings, many users have wished the traveler good luck, hoping that he will reach his destination safely.
