African Dust Hits the TRNC Again
The Meteorological Department of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has issued an emergency warning due to dust particles polluting the air. As in previous occurrences, the dust has been carried into the region from North Africa. It is expected to linger in the atmosphere until Wednesday evening.
According to the forecast, the warning will be in effect from 12:00 PM on Monday, April 8, until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 9.
"The dust from North Africa is expected to cause air pollution in our region, and citizens with heightened sensitivity to such conditions are advised to take precautions," the statement from the department reads.
This is the second such alert this year, with a similar warning issued in March. The dust, again coming from Africa, remained in the air until April 2.
