Meritta Rehabilitation Center Saved 140 Sea Turtles
In Northern Cyprus, the cooperation agreement between the Environmental Protection Agency and the Meritta Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center has been extended.
The agreement covers the processes of transporting, sheltering, feeding, treating, and rehabilitating injured, sick, and exhausted sea turtles found in coastal and marine areas.
To date, approximately 140 sea turtles have been treated and released back into the sea as part of the project.
Additionally, on July 22, you can participate in releasing baby turtles into the sea at three beaches in Northern Cyprus. At 19:30, events will be held at Akdeniz Caretta Beach and Mersinlik Public Beach. Participation at both locations is free, and no prior reservation is required.
Another turtle release will take place from 21:00 to 21:30 at the Alagadi SPOT Marine Life Nature Conservation Centre. Please note that reservations are required for this event, and you can book by calling +90 533 872 53 50 (after 13:00).
