Turkish Soldier Sets Record by Jumping with Giant Flag Over Northern Cyprus

The Ministry of National Defense of Turkey (MSB) reported a new record set by a Special Forces serviceman.
Senior Sergeant of the Engineering Corps Ertan Üstündağ, serving in the Special Forces Command, performed a freefall parachute jump over the Geçitkale area in Northern Cyprus, carrying a massive Turkish flag measuring 661.5 square meters, thereby setting a national record for Turkey.
According to the MSB statement:
- the flag’s area is 241.5 sq. m larger than a standard basketball court;
- a 50-kg lead plate was used for balance;
- the total weight of the tandem system was 203 kg;
- the previous record — 531.2 sq. m — was set in 2005.
The Ministry emphasized that Turkish soldiers continue to make their mark not only on land but also in the sky, demonstrating a high level of training and professionalism.
