A suspect in a handbag theft detained at Ercan Airport in Northern Cyprus
In Northern Cyprus, at Ercan Airport, a theft of a women’s handbag forgotten by a passenger occurred on October 25, 2025, at around 21:00; one person has been detained as part of the investigation.
According to police, the bag contained 2,000 US dollars, wireless headphones, glasses and an electronic cigarette. After the loss was reported, an investigation was launched to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify those involved.
A 51-year-old H.S. was sought as a suspect in the case. He was detained on December 14, 2025, while entering the TRNC via Ercan Airport and was taken into custody in connection with the ongoing investigation.
The investigation into the theft is continuing; no additional details have been reported.
