Traditional Cypriot culture showcased at Ercan Airport

On Monday, November 11, 2025, a cultural event was held at Ercan Airport, organized by the T&T Airport Administration in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and the Değirmenlik Akıncılar Municipality.
The program featured teachers and participants of the women's course from the village of Akıncılar, operating under the Ministry of Education. Airport guests were able to see traditional Cypriot crafts: basket weaving, working with silk cocoons, making Lefkara lace, and hear performances of Cypriot folk songs.
According to the organizers, the skill and patience of the women attracted great interest from passengers. It is noted that such initiatives help familiarize tourists and visitors with Cyprus's cultural heritage. The organizers also stated that they plan to continue holding similar exhibitions and demonstrations at Ercan Airport to strengthen interest in traditional crafts and the island's cultural identity.
