Motorcyclist and passenger seriously injured in Çatalköy accident
A serious traffic accident involving a car and a motorcycle occurred in Çatalköy, leaving two people with severe injuries.
The accident took place on March 23 at approximately 09:50 on Uğur Mumcu Street. According to police reports, a 34-year-old driver of a vehicle (plate VS 988) attempted an imprudent U-turn, blocking the path of a motorcycle (plate AA 853 E) traveling westbound, resulting in a collision.
The 22-year-old motorcyclist, Abdullah Abbas, and his 24-year-old passenger, Zain Islam, were seriously injured in the crash.
Both were transported to the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia. The passenger is currently in the neurosurgery intensive care unit, while the motorcyclist has been transferred to a hospital in Kyrenia for further medical observation.
The car driver has been detained as the police investigation continues.
