In Famagusta, an elderly illegal taxi driver from Iran was caught
A police operation to identify illegal taxi drivers took place in Famagusta. During the raid, one driver from Iran engaged in private transport was detained.
According to the police press service, the 75-year-old man who was apprehended was caught at the scene of the crime. An investigation has been initiated against the illegal taxi driver who was operating without a license.
It is noted that the operation in Famagusta was organized following a complaint from the city Taxi Drivers Association.
The president of the city association, Muhammet Biberoglu, emphasized the problem of illegal taxis, stating that people continue to work without a license due to the lack of effective penalties.
The union leader also reminded that under normal conditions, it is prohibited to operate commercial transport for individuals over the age of 65.
