Retired police officers honored at the General Directorate of Police in Northern Cyprus
On December 25, 2025, a ceremony was held at the General Directorate of Police (PGM) in Northern Cyprus to present plaques and certificates of service to police officers who became eligible for retirement during the year.
The event was attended by Police Director General Ali Adalıer, First Deputy Director of the PGM Gökay Karagil, heads of district directorates and departments of the PGM, as well as retirees and their families.
During the ceremony, Ali Adalıer stated that retirement is not a farewell and emphasized that retired personnel will always remain an integral part of the police organization and its supporters. He also noted that the General Directorate of Police will continue to support retirees.
Adalıer thanked the retired officers and their spouses for the sacrifices made during their service and wished them health, peace, and happiness in the future.
For residents of Northern Cyprus, this ceremony confirms the official practice of awarding honorary distinctions and formally documenting retirement within law enforcement bodies, as well as maintaining ties between active and former police personnel.
