A new international group exhibition, “Soil & Water: Mediterranean Crossing”, has opened in Kyrenia at the Art Rooms gallery. The project is curated by Başak Şenova.

The exhibition brings together artists from different countries and considers soil and water not merely as natural resources, but as ecological, cultural, and political agents shaping landscapes, memory, and the history of the Mediterranean. The works include sculpture, performance, video, and research-based artistic practices.

The project is realized in collaboration with the ARUCAD University of Creative Arts and Design and is linked to the international research initiative Soil & Water, launched in South Africa as an artistic response to environmental issues affecting water resources.

The exhibition features works by nearly 30 artists, with part of the display extending beyond the gallery onto the ARUCAD campus, creating a dialogue between academic space and contemporary art. In particular, a large-scale sculpture by South African artist Ledelle Moe is installed on the university grounds, while video documentation of its creation can be viewed at Art Rooms.

The exhibition also includes archival materials from the “Sediment” project, held in Graz, Austria, during 2024–2025, and is accompanied by the release of a publication of the same name with support from ARUCAD Press.

Dates: January 14 – February 17, 2026
Opening hours: daily except Sunday, 13:30–20:30

Location: Art Rooms, Kyrenia
