Water Pipe Burst in İskele
In İskele, yesterday evening, traffic towards Long Beach was hindered due to a burst water pipe. Authorities are taking measures to clean up the road surface.
According to a statement from the İskele municipality, traffic towards Long Beach was being controlled by the İskele Traffic Department due to the water spill.
It is noted that the burst water pipe and water spill on the road occurred due to maintenance and repair work announced yesterday by the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ). Repair workers discharged the existing water on the line between Geçitkale and Famagusta to carry out the work.
The statement also mentioned that as of late yesterday evening, cleaning works on the Famagusta-İskele main road section near Long Beach were ongoing after the spill.
It was earlier reported that water would be cut off across Northern Cyprus due to a malfunction at the Geçitkale pumping station as part of the water supply project from the Republic of Turkey to the TRNC.
The public is urged to use water consciously and sparingly. Additional information about the progress of repair works at the pumping station will be provided to the public.
