Ceremony held in Iskele to mark the anniversary of the Canakkale Victory
A solemn ceremony was held in Iskele to commemorate the 111th anniversary of the Canakkale Naval Victory.
The event took place at the Larnaca Martyrs' Memorial. It was attended by Iskele Deputy District Governor Necmi Karakılıç, Iskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu, representatives of the Turkish Peace Force and Security Forces Command, police, civil defense, as well as representatives of political parties, organizations, and local residents.
The ceremony began with a minute of silence, a gun salute, and the raising of flags to the Turkish national anthem. This was followed by poems and prayers.
Air Defense Lieutenant İdris Kalkan delivered a speech on behalf of the Turkish Armed Forces. He emphasized that March 18, 1915, became a historic date when it was proven to the whole world that the Dardanelles Strait is impassable by sea.
At the end of his speech, Kalkan honored the memory of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and all fallen heroes, expressing gratitude and respect to them.
