Injured Donkey Dies in Karpas: Taşkent Doğa Park Director Sharply Criticizes Bureaucracy
Taşkent Doğa Parkı Director Kemal Basat issued a harsh statement after an injured donkey died in the Karpas region, having suffered in pain for several days according to his account.
According to preliminary information, the animal had been shot at least two days before it was discovered. Despite the team's arrival at the scene, the donkey could not be saved.
Basat stated that the problem of uncontrolled growth in the wild donkey population in Karpas and animal rights violations remains unresolved due to protracted bureaucratic procedures.
"Budgets are not open, release letters are not signed, documents have been sent to the Ministry of Finance — there is no response. We are forced to wait," he noted.
According to him, even the allocated budget for 2026 will be insufficient for the full implementation of the project. It will take another 1–1.5 months of preparation to launch operations after the funds are released.
Basat called for urgent funding for the "Karpas Donkey Management Plan" to avoid such tragedies in the future.
