14 illegal immigrants arrested in Kyrenia
In Kyrenia, 14 people were arrested during a police operation. All of them had been residing illegally in the country for periods ranging from six months to four years.
The police provide a list of the detained illegal immigrants in Kyrenia. They are Samuel Akanimo, Emmanuel Oluwafemi Mamoe, Osita Emmanuel Ikwegbu, Faruk Hussein, Mohammad Jakir Hussein, Mohammad Yusuf, Abdulkader Al-Rakeb, Abadur Rahman, Mamun Rashid, Wahidur Zaman, Shohag Farazi, Rakip Hussein, Mofizur Rahman, and Saiful Islam.
Last Sunday, all 14 fugitives appeared before the court. During the court hearing, a police officer stated that all the suspects were apprehended red-handed on April 20. The accused individuals' illegal stay in the country ranges from 6 months to 4 years.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the police are determining what the illegal immigrants were doing during their time in Northern Cyprus, including whether they were illegally employed.
Based on the testimonies, the senior judge ordered the suspects to be detained for 3 days for further investigation.
It is also worth noting that a total of 23 people were arrested as a result of checks and inspections conducted by the police throughout the country on April 20, who were found to be residing in the country without residency permits. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against them.
