1 kg of suspected cannabis seized in Lefkoşa, two detained
The police press service reported that as a result of the joint "Pusu" operation in Lefkoşa, Northern Cyprus, one kilogram of a substance, presumably belonging to the cannabis genus, was seized, and two suspects were detained.
According to the police press service, yesterday around 20:30 in Lefkoşa, units from the Directorate for the Prevention of Drug Crimes and Smuggling and the Crime Prevention Department of the Lefkoşa Police conducted a joint operation. As a result, two men aged 39 and 22 were found with a total of approximately one kilogram of substance, presumably cannabis. Both were detained.
Detentions were also reported in Girne and İskele, Northern Cyprus. In Girne, during a patrol on Şehit Süleyman Ulucamgil Street around 10:30, a 37-year-old man was found with about 1 gram of substance, presumably cocaine, and a rolled 200-lira note with suspected traces of drugs; he was detained and the evidence seized. In İskele, around 21:30 in a residential complex, two men aged 24 and 32 were found with about 11 grams of substance, presumably cannabis; they were detained, and the seized samples were sent as evidence.
It was officially stated that the investigation is ongoing.
