A symbolic action against violence against women will take place in Lefkoşa

The Social Assistance Department of Northern Cyprus announced a special event for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is marked annually on November 25. The action, titled “Şiddete Karşı Dayanışma Ağı” — “Network of Solidarity Against Violence”, will take place today, November 25, at 10:30 on Haşmet Gürkan Square (in front of Avlu).
Participants of the professional training and social support programme for women, implemented by the department, will fix previously prepared anti-violence slogans onto a fishing net, creating a collective installation. This symbolic “network of solidarity” will be displayed on the square for a week.
The organizers emphasize that the aim of the action is to remind people of the importance of speaking out about violence and strengthening the voice of women who face threats and discrimination.
