In Nicosia, the new building of the EU Information Center has opened
A ceremony was held in Nicosia to mark the opening of the new EU Information Center building. It is located in the Köşklüçiftlik area on Server Somuncuoğlu Street.
The opening ceremony of the EU Information Center was attended by Mario Nava, the Director-General of the Department for Structural Reform Support of the European Commission, and Selçuk Yörükoğluları, the Head of the EU Coordination Center.
According to Mario Nava, the EU Information Center allows the Turkish Cypriot community to obtain accurate information about the European Union and find answers to their questions, as well as information about EU values since 2009.
Mario Nava also added that the EU continues to make a significant contribution to the Turkish Cypriot community through aid programs aimed at promoting the reunification of Cyprus and contributing to the economic development of the Turkish Cypriot community.
The EU aid program provides approximately 35 million euros in support to the Turkish Cypriot community annually. To date, the total amount of support has reached 688 million euros.
Mario Nava also mentioned the upcoming European Parliament elections, stating that information about the elections can be obtained at the EU Information Center.
Selçuk Yörükoğluları, President of the EU Coordination Center, also wished success to the EU Information Center, which will continue its work in the new building with a new team.
Following the speeches, an olive tree was planted in the courtyard - a universal symbol of peace. The ceremony concluded with a solemn reception.
