Problems with pesticides detected in a batch of apples and a head of lettuce

The Department of Agriculture has published the results of food product inspections for the period from 21 to 27 November. During the analyses, violations related to the content of plant protection products were detected in two samples.
Among imported goods, specialists checked 41 samples: 40 were found to be “clean”, while one contained an excessive level of pesticides. This concerns Golden apples from the company M&S Koçak Gıda. Due to the exceeded limit, the product will be returned to the supplier, to the country of origin, at the company’s request.
Among local products, 22 samples were collected, of which 21 were deemed safe. In one case, the use of an inappropriate (non-recommended) plant protection product was detected. The violation was found in a batch of curly lettuce (kıvırcık marul) belonging to farmer Menteş Uyguner from the village of Yeşilköy. This product will be destroyed.
The Department reminds that it regularly conducts analyses of both imported and local products to monitor the use of pesticides and ensure consumer safety.
