A furniture workshop burned down in the industrial zone of Nicosia: three people arrested

A major fire occurred in Nicosia at one of the enterprises in the industrial zone. The furniture workshop was completely destroyed. Three workers have been arrested in connection with the fire.

According to emergency services, the fire in the furniture workshop at the Işıl Reklam enterprise in the Organized Industrial Zone of Nicosia broke out yesterday evening, around 17:20. Firefighting efforts continued until late at night.

To extinguish the large fire, civil defense teams consisting of 12 people and water tankers from the fire department were deployed.

Minister of Labor and Social Security of the TRNC, Sadyk Gardianoglu, made a special statement.

According to the minister, rescuers took all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the fire to neighboring buildings.

In a statement made around midnight, it was said that the fire at the enterprise was under control, after which work to cool the embers continued.

By morning, the fire was completely extinguished by the efforts of the police, firefighters, as well as civil defense teams and water tankers from regional municipalities.

As a result of the fire, all furniture burned, and the workshop was completely destroyed by the fire.

During the ongoing investigation, it was determined that the fire occurred due to the ignition of covering materials as a result of overheating of cables while working with a welding machine using electrical extensions.

As part of the investigation, three workers have been arrested on charges of negligence.
