School Holidays Begin in Northern Cyprus This Saturday

The first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year is wrapping up this week in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). On Friday, January 31, students from schools under the Departments of Primary Education, General Secondary Education, and Vocational and Technical Education will receive their report cards.

According to the Ministry of National Education, approximately 28,000 students are enrolled in 128 vocational high schools under the Department of Primary Education. About 30,000 students attend 48 schools under the Department of General Secondary Education, while around 4,000 students are enrolled in 13 schools under the Department of Vocational and Technical Education.

Additionally, around 450 students are receiving education at vocational training and adult education centers. There are 6,300 teachers working across public and private schools in the TRNC.

As a result, approximately 62,000 students in primary and secondary grades will receive their mid-year certificates.

School holidays will begin on February 1 and last until February 16. The second semester will commence on Monday, February 17, and the 2024-2025 academic year will conclude on June 16.

It is also worth noting that the first stage of college entrance exams took place last weekend in Northern Cyprus. The second stage of the exams is scheduled for Saturday, June 14.

Applications for students who have completed 8th grade for vocational secondary school programs will be accepted between June 18 and June 23. Announcements regarding admissions to 9th grade vocational secondary schools will be made on Monday, June 23.
