Frozen Imported Meat Now Available in TRNC: Where to Buy?
The Soil Products Institute (TÜK) has announced the start of sales for imported frozen lamb meat in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). They have published a list of addresses and phone numbers for markets and butcher shops where this meat can be purchased.
According to the information, frozen meat will be sold at 46 locations across various regions of the country. The price for a kilogram of imported meat has been set at 375 TL.
"TÜK has begun distributing frozen lamb legs imported in accordance with the meat import criteria established by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Energy, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The list of markets and butcher shops with the necessary conditions for healthy meat storage and who have made the appropriate request is attached. The retail price for imported frozen lamb legs has been set at 375 TL per kilogram," the agency's statement reads.
It is worth noting that the TRNC authorities initially set a maximum allowable price for meat at 550 Turkish lira. This decision caused dissatisfaction among producers and led to meat virtually disappearing from store shelves for a while. The government's subsequent decision was to approve the import of frozen lamb and minced meat from abroad.
