The TRNC Ministry of Agriculture has released the results of its inspection of imported and locally grown fruits and vegetables between September 6 and 12.

Tests conducted at the State Laboratory revealed excessive levels of pesticides in imported pears and tomatoes.

According to the Ministry's statement, 83 out of 85 samples of imported products were found to be free from contaminants.

The pears, belonging to Selgün Ticaret, exceeded the allowable pesticide limit and were destroyed at the company’s request.

Additionally, a batch of round tomatoes, which also had excessive pesticide levels, will be returned to the country of origin, as requested by the producer.

All eight samples from locally grown products were found to be free from any pesticide residues.
