Galatasaray’s Championship Sparks Celebrations Across Northern Cyprus
Galatasaray has been crowned Turkish champions for the 25th time, clinching their third consecutive Süper Lig title—and fans in Northern Cyprus joined in the celebrations with great enthusiasm.
In the 36th round of the Turkish Süper Lig, the red-and-yellows defeated Kayserispor 3–0 at Rams Park in Istanbul, securing the 2024/2025 championship with 89 points. The victory put them out of reach of their closest rivals, Fenerbahçe, who remain eight points behind with just two games left.
As soon as the final whistle blew, Galatasaray supporters poured into the streets across Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). In North Nicosia, thousands of fans from all over the island gathered on Dereboyu Street, singing victory songs and waving club flags. The celebrations lasted well into the night, painting the city center in Galatasaray’s iconic red and yellow colors. Traffic in the area came to a standstill as the party took over the streets.
Galatasaray now holds the record for the most Süper Lig titles in Turkish football history.
