The celebration of Eid al-Fitr continues in the TRNC: service schedules and useful phone numbers
In Northern Cyprus, the celebration of Eid al-Fitr or Uraza-Bayram continues. The holiday officially began this morning – at 6:37, the festive prayer was heard in all mosques.
In the TRNC, it has been decided this year to extend the holiday weekend to 9 days—from April 5th to April 14th.
Starting from the 8th, government employees have been sent on administrative leave, which will last until the end of the week. This means that most government offices, shops, and other public services will not be operating during this time.
However, citizens' issues during the holiday period do not disappear, so there are standby services in all municipalities ready to help in difficult times.
In particular, to ensure the safety of the population during the holiday, employees of the Main Police Department (PGM) will be on duty around the clock.
Emergency phone lines are continuously available to the public: 155—police, 199—fire service, 156—anti-narcotics department, and other phone lines.
Also, municipal services have provided information about their work during the Uraza-Bayram holiday.
Nicosia Municipality (LTB)
In Nicosia, police brigades will be on duty during the holidays, and the public can report problems round the clock to the “Hello 185” hotline. During the holiday, teams from the Department of Public Health and the Elderly Care Department will be on standby to provide assistance in emergencies. The LTB team combating violence against women will continue to be on duty.
Also on standby will be a team to assist people with special needs in emergencies. Household waste will be collected regularly. General waste collection, which is regularly carried out by the LTB cleaning service, will continue during the holidays without any delays or disruptions. Cleaning of city streets will also continue.
Prepaid water can be loaded from kiosks around the clock and without weekends using cards at kiosks located at the entrance to the LTB building, LTB kindergarten, Kemal Şemiler Street (Metehan), Atatürk Street in Hamitköy, and LTB Haspolat branch.
All payments can also be made through the LTB Online mobile application and the website www.lefkosabelediyesi.org.
The Bandabuliya Municipal Market will be closed on the first and second days of the holiday and will reopen on Friday, April 12th. On April 14th, an open-air market will be held in Central Nicosia.
For burial procedures, contact the on-duty staff at 0548 8340582.
