Northern Cyprus Turns Hotel Food Waste into Meals for Stray Animals
The Municipality of Çatalköy-Esentepe has launched a new initiative to turn leftover food from hotels into nutritious meals for stray animals. The project aims to reduce food waste while providing proper nutrition for abandoned pets.
Mayor Ceyhun Kırok explained that a dedicated facility has been set up to process surplus food from hotels into safe and healthy meals for homeless animals.
“This is a model project that reflects our commitment to social responsibility,” Kırok said. “We are creating a specialized facility that will transform excess food from hotels into nutritious meals for stray cats and dogs. By carefully recycling food waste from hotel kitchens, we are not only reducing waste but also improving the lives of stray animals by ensuring they have access to proper nutrition. At the same time, this initiative promotes environmental sustainability and the efficient use of natural resources.”
