An employee at Gümüşhane University took a colleague hostage: operation ended without casualties

At Gümüşhane University (Turkey), an administrative employee took a colleague hostage, threatening her with a firearm. The incident occurred in the building of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences.
According to Turkish media, an employee identified as H.T., for reasons not yet determined, pointed a weapon at his colleague D.B. and held her inside the building. Police special units were urgently dispatched to the scene. The faculty building was immediately evacuated: students and staff were moved to a safe area, and the territory was cordoned off.
Security forces conducted negotiations with H.T., urging him to abandon his actions and surrender. In an official statement, the university noted that there were no victims or injuries and that the situation is under control.
The university administration also reported that for security reasons, entry and exit to the campus are temporarily operating in a limited and controlled mode. Police continue the investigation to determine the employee’s motives.
