Road Closures Across Cyprus This Weekend for Races
Several roads in Northern Cyprus will be closed this weekend due to sporting events, including motorcycle and triathlon races.
On Sunday, April 27, the main Geçitkale–Dörtyol road will be closed for a motorcycle race organized by the Turkish Cypriot Motorcycle Association.
The race will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. During this time, the section between the Kanizi–Petrol and Dörtyol–Alaniçi roundabouts (first roundabout) will be closed to all traffic in both directions.
Drivers will be redirected through an alternative route via the Geçitkale–Power Station road.
On the same day, Sunday, April 27, road closures will also be in effect in İskele due to a triathlon race organized by the Cyprus Triathlon Federation.
The triathlon will run from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. According to a police statement, the cycling segment of the race will take place on the main İskele–Karpaz road, between the Salamis, Ötüken, and Arkın İskele Hotel roundabouts.
Cyclists will be accompanied by a police motorcade, and all intersections and roundabouts along the route will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic while the race is underway.
