Wild Asparagus Festival to be Held in Northern Cyprus This Weekend
This weekend, the 8th Akdeniz Ayrelli Festival, dedicated to wild asparagus, will take place in Northern Cyprus.
The traditional celebration will be held at the square of Akdeniz village on April 6-7. The annual festival is organized by the Lapta-Alsancak-Çamlıbel municipality in cooperation with the office of the Mukhtar of Akdeniz and the Akdeniz Hunting and Sports Shooting Club.
Mayor of the Lapta-Alsancak-amlbel municipality, Firat Ataser, invited guests to the festival. Ataser emphasized that the main goal of the event is to showcase the importance of wild asparagus, sand lilies, and caretta-caretta turtles to the region, which will be the main theme of this year's festivities.
The Akdeniz Ayrelli Festival first took place in 2017 and has been held annually since then.
The opening ceremony of the 2024 festival will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 10:30 with a grand parade. Traditionally, the festival features a fair of local products and concerts by various creative groups. Guests can also enjoy treats made from wild asparagus and other local delicacies.
