Almost all of Northern Cyprus left without electricity
Massive power outages have been reported across many regions of the country. According to KIB-TEK General Director Dalman Aydın, the cause was a fire and explosion at a substation in Güzelyurt, which triggered automatic shutdowns at the power plants.
The situation worsened due to a malfunction at the Teknecik power plant: electricity from the private company Aksa stopped feeding into the grid. This led to a complete blackout in several settlements.
Emergency crews are currently working on repairs. Electricity supply is expected to be restored as soon as possible.
