Virtual journey: on Northern Cyprus, schoolchildren were sent inside the human brain
As part of Brain Awareness Week, Eastern Mediterranean University launched a unique educational project, Real Brain. The organizers brought special virtual reality glasses to local colleges and lyceums. With their help, schoolchildren from grades 4 to 12 were literally able to take a walk through the human nervous system.
In the format of an interactive 3D journey, the children studied the anatomy and structure of the head. The project is supervised by the well-known neurologist on the island, Amber Eker Bakkaloglu, together with Namık Kerküklü, a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine. The innovative educational program proved so successful that it won a prestigious grant from the international charitable foundation Dana Foundation.
