TRNC Authorities Offer Condolences After Helicopter Crash in Turkey
The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, expressed his condolences following a tragic helicopter crash in Muğla, Turkey, which claimed four lives.
President Tatar extended his sympathies to the families of the victims, including relatives of two TRNC citizens who were among those who lost their lives.
“I was deeply saddened to learn that the brothers of Tatlısu Yalı neighborhood head Leila Güvener and the Secretary-General of the TRNC Foreign Press Association, Taner Genül, were among those who died in the Muğla helicopter crash, alongside doctors and paramedics. I offer my heartfelt condolences and support to the families of our brothers who tragically lost their lives in this disaster,” Ersin Tatar said.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek also shared messages of condolence.
The crash occurred on Sunday morning at 10:06 local time in the Menteşe district of Muğla, Turkey. An emergency medical helicopter struck the fourth floor of the Training and Research Hospital before crashing onto an empty lot nearby.
The victims included two pilots, a doctor, and a hospital medical staff member.
At the time of the accident, heavy fog blanketed the area. Emergency response teams, including firefighters, medical staff, police, and personnel from Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance.
